I am beginning to believe that Obama must have lost a boatload of cash in Las Vegas, because he seems to have a real problem with people spending money there.
Last time Obama disparaged spending money in Vegas, he was scolding corporate execs about how they spent TARP money:
“You can’t get corporate jets. You can’t go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayer’s dime, ”
This time at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire, Obama once again disparaged spending money in Vegas, this time saying:
"When times are tough, you tighten your belts," the president said. "You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college."
It is very ironic that Obama would even say that line, after handing in such an irresponsible budget just the other day. Anyway, Obama’s statement has clearly raised the ire of the city of Las Vegas and Nevadans. The Mayor of Las Vegas is particularly biting.
Even Harry Reid got PO’ed:
"The President needs to lay off Las Vegas and stop making it the poster child for where people shouldn't be spending their money,"
Obama has since issued apologies for his remarks, but it is too late, the damage is done. Obama finds himself in these situations because he likes to lecture people. He has been lecturing us all since day one. Unfortunately for Obama, he lacks the true working knowledge of the subjects he wishes to lecture us on and that is why he is forever sticking his foot in his mouth.
