Ever since Sarah Palin said she would definitely consider running in 2012, it seems the anti-Palin squad is working overtime to come up will sorts of contrived controversies.
The latest you could consider a spin off of the notes on her hand controversy. This time it is the bracelet she is wearing on that now infamous hand.
Eric Robinson blogging at the Yale Daily News incorrectly identifies the bracelet as being a black memorial bracelet that is worn by parents of fallen soldiers. From there Robinson goes into standard condescending elitist mode:
The name on her black memorial bracelet — one, like the gold star, a demonstration of a friend or associate who was killed in action — is that of her oldest son, Track. Track served honorably in Iraq, and both he and his parents should be thanked for his selfless service to his country. He is also alive.
Commemorating Track’s service by wearing a a black memorial bracelet which is reserved for those dead or even a red bracelet for those missing in action, demonstrates a horrifying contempt for those who gave their last full measure of devotion or an almost unbelievable ignorance of the importance of symbols in American history.
Unfortunately, given Palin’s reputation and frequent public statements, I assume it is the latter.
From here the meltdown begins. William Jacobson from Le·gal In·ser·rec·tion did his homework and finds that not all black bracelets of this type are memorial bracelets some are deployment bracelets. Jacobson’s finding are confirmed by the people who actually gave Palin and Joe Biden, the bracelets for their sons’ deployment.
What happened here is typical bias. Because so many on the left want to or are willing to believe only the worst things about Sarah Palin, they fall into the trap of believing anything without proof. This is just like the bogus rumor that Palin was getting a divorce or Palin resigned because she was under investigation or Palin is not Trig’s mother, etc. Should the left continue with these made up charges they will help to propel Palin right into the White House in 2012 as their credibility gets shot to hell.
