What the hell? Did Matthews watch the speech with his eyes closed? It is no wonder that MSNBC comes in dead last in the cable news rating game. With utterly vapid and useless partisan analysis like this, why tune in?
Obama has been president for a little over a year; you would think that Chris Matthews would have gotten over the fact that Obama is black by now. Most of us are more concern with the direction Obama is taking the nation to still be noticing what color he is. Yet here is Matthews yammering on about how post racial the speech was. Never mind that there was nothing remotely related to race in the speech.
Matthew’s statement again reminds me of that subtle bigotry in the left. Biden, Reid and now Matthews' statement all seem to suggest that it is some major feat for black people to be articulate and competent. Matthews' statement is also probably a tell tale sign that Obama’s color had a lot to do with Matthews' decision to vote for him.
Since Matthews’ comment started making wave throughout the Internet, Matthews released a statement clarifying his remark.
"I think he's done something wonderful," Matthews said. "I think he's taken us beyond black and white in our politics, wonderfully so, in just a year."
Huh? I cannot think of anything Obama has done thus far to really move the nation down the road on race relations. If anything, the election of Obama says that the nation is moving along on race on its own.
