Some of the most prominent and respected handicappers can now envision an election in which Democrats suffer double-digit losses in the House — not enough to provide the 40 seats necessary to return the GOP to power but enough to put them within striking distance.

No surprise here. The Democrats are living out almost every stereotype conservatives have ever uttered about them. Elitists – check, spend thrifts – check, tax hikers – check, closet communists – check and on and on they go.

I never thought Americans elected the Democrats because the nation shifted left. That is why all that earlier chatter this year about the GOP needing to move to the center was total bunk. The reason why Americans dumped the Republicans was because Americans wanted a better class of Republicans, ones who actually support conservative principles like cutting spending, lowering taxes and not supporting new dictates from Washington. The only way to get there was to usher in more Democrats, albeit temporarily.

Unless Democrats can get a hold of themselves and cut spending, reduce the alarming debt and create new private sector jobs, they are going to take a major drubbing in 2010.
