Newsweek has a story up about Obama receiving a report on possible Christmas day terror attacks 3 days before the Underpants Bomber struck. Seeing how this information was “leaked” by an “unnamed administration official” I would take it with a grain of salt.

President Obama received a high-level briefing only three days before Christmas about possible holiday-period terrorist threats against the U.S., NEWSWEEK has learned. The briefing was centered on a written report, produced by U.S. intelligence agencies, titled "Key Homeland Threats," a senior U.S. official says.
The administration official, who asked for anonymity when discussing sensitive information, says that nowhere in this document was there any mention of Yemen, whose affiliate of Al Qaeda is now believed to have been behind the Christmas Day attempt by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab to bring down a transatlantic airliner with a bomb hidden in his underpants. However, the official declined to disclose any other information about the substance of the briefing, including what kind of specific warnings, if any, the president was given about possible holiday attacks and whether Yemen came up during oral discussions.
Isn't it convenient that Yemen is not mentioned in the report? This is why I question the whole “leaked” thing. Allah Pundit does make a good case when he asks:
[re: Yemen] None at all? Hadn’t the administration just assisted Yemen in bombing a meeting in AQ that killed as many as 30 terrorist leaders? Wouldn’t Obama have at least askedabout Yemen as a potential threat?
Call me a cynic, but I think this was leaked on purpose to make it look like the intelligence agencies failed Obama and thus take some of the heat off him for his delayed reaction.
If I had to guess, I would say no matter what the report said, Obama probably wasn’t too concerned. Remember this man delayed his Hawaiian holiday so that he could bask in the Senate’s passing of that dreadful Health Reform Bill. Obama’s chief concern has always been about spreading the wealth. Anything that distracts from that is given a band-aid and shoved to the back burner. I have little doubt he will try to do the same with this latest round of terror.
