The Democrats are failing badly. You can find stories daily telling how Republicans are gaining on the Democrats. You can see actual polls showing their decline. Ask the Democrats why things are going so bad and they will tell you things like, it’s because of misinformation, it’s the Republicans, it’s talk radio, it’s the astroturfing health insurance industry and on and on and on. What they absolutely won’t tell you is that it is themselves that are to blame.
From the onset of this new Congress and this new administration, Democrats have had their own foot firmly planted on the accelerator to undermine themselves. It started with Obama promising the stars, the moon and the sun and then just delivering the same old crap. Think back to the early days of this administration and all those tax cheats and dubious characters that were appointed. This did not fit the high tone rhetoric of Hope and Change.
Then came the spending, the wild orgy of spending. Spending that our great grand children will still be paying off. Bailouts for failed banks, bailouts for failed car companies, bailouts for mortgages, pork laden spending bills, an un-stimulating stimulus, cash for clunkers, and on and on and on. Don’t Democrats know that Republicans and conservative love to paint them as irresponsible and wasteful spenders? Did they actually think “it’s Bush’s fault” would cover their spending spree forever?
If the spending wasn’t bad enough, there is a daily show of incompetence and irresponsibility. Unsuitable gifts for heads of state, bonuses paid in bailed out companies, auto companies going bankrupt after we wasted billions to save them and luxury jets for Congress while we are about to exceed the limit on our China Express card. These are just a few example of why Americans have no faith in any of the Democrats proposals.
Sadly, the corruption, spending, incompetence and irresponsibility are just the tip of the iceberg. In the face of all these undesirable things, Obama and the Democrats serve the American people two big fat dollops of arrogance and disdain!
If there were two things that could be described as the nitrogen oxide in the engine of public outrage over health care reform, it would be the Democrats’ arrogance and disdain! Almost daily during the summer recess, you could see a new YouTube video of some Democrat displaying some arrogance or distain towards constituents. There is a video of a Democrat talking on her cell phone while a constituent asks a question, there is a video of a Democrat berating his constituents, and there is a video of a Democrat having a constituent arrested for asking a question out of turn! Did the Democrats just plum forget that it is the constituents who have the power to fire them? Heck, even the speaker of the House has shown her backside to the American people.
Without real change the Democrats are looking at an electoral bloodbath in 2010. When it happens and their numbers are diminished greatly, Democrats need not hunt for villains for their demise, instead they need only to pick up a mirror!
